Randall Anderson for Bassishaw
As a councillor of over a decade, I have the experience and knowledge to accomplish material change. There is so much more to do in The City, and I hope the following summary of my record shows that I am prepared to do the work and achieve results.
Randall Anderson has lived and worked in the City of London for the last 22 years. He has been an elected member of the Common Council of the City of London Corporation for over a decade, building strong relationships across the Corporation and our communities. He is currently Chair of the Projects and Procurements Committee, spearheading the push to reform how the city takes on new projects and procurements, and reduce bureaucratic complexity delivering these. At the same time, Randall is Deputy Chair of the Finance Committee, working to ensure that the City’s funds are both well looked after and responsibly spent. Randall has chaired the important Community and Children’s Services Committee responsible for delivering critical local authority services.
Randall is a member of the Barbican Centre Board and the Guildhall School Board of Governors, primarily focused on improving the financial stability of these institutions. As he has taken on broader responsibilities within the council, his roles have trended towards matters related to finance and business. His 40 years of experience as an attorney and arbitrator has made him a very effective communicator and negotiator. These skills have proven indispensable in accomplishing his primary goals of enabling the council to behave as a more commercial enterprise, making the City a pleasant and desirable place to work, and expanding the City’s social housing stock, as well as services to help rough sleepers off the streets.
His daughters, both of whom were raised in the City, share his love of the arts. His youngest is a proud alumna of the Barbican Young Poets and the Museum of London’s Young Archaeologist’s Club. He now spends much of his weekends chasing after his three-year-old granddaughter.
Delivering a Modern City for All
The City of London deserves leadership that is decisive, forward-thinking, and dedicated to ensuring it remains the world’s leading financial and cultural hub. My commitment to you is clear: to modernise, innovate, and improve in every area of governance while delivering tangible results for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Streamlined, Efficient Governance
Reforming Project and Contract Management: We will dramatically improve efficiency by streamlining approval processes and reducing unnecessary committee oversight. Councillors must focus on strategic leadership—not micromanaging projects.
Procurement Transformation: We will radically alter outdated procurement procedures to ensure the best outcomes at competitive costs, aligning with modern practices.
Responsible Financial Leadership
Budgeting That Reflects Our Priorities: Instead of merely inflation-adjusting previous budgets, we will implement a priority-driven approach, aligning financial decisions with what truly matters to our community.
Maximising Returns on Investments: It's time for a comprehensive review of our investment strategy, ensuring resources are allocated to deliver higher returns and safeguard our financial future.
Empowering People Through Modernisation
Delivering a World-Class ERP Programme: By modernising our finance and people management systems, we will drive efficiency and enhance the Corporation’s ability to serve effectively.
Sustainability as a Core Value: Carbon studies must deliver actionable insights—not become costly box-ticking exercises. We will prioritise genuine impact, ensuring the City leads the way in environmental responsibility.
A Safer, Fairer City
Supporting the City of London Police: I will ensure they have a viable and effective budget to keep the Square Mile the safest business district in the world.
Strengthening the Fight Against Fraud and Cybercrime: I will champion the successful delivery of the new Fraud and Cybercrime Reporting and Analysis System, putting victims first while bolstering the nation’s defences against economic crime.
Revitalising the City as a Destination
Hybrid working has transformed our lives, bringing us closer to our families while presenting challenges for the City’s SMEs. We proudly launched the City’s first SME Strategy to ensure these businesses remain a vital part of our ecosystem. Additionally, I worked to develop the renewal program for the Barbican, promising to bring new vibrancy to Europe’s leading multi-arts centre. I am a board member driving this initiative forward. The Square Mile must remain globally competitive and locally vibrant—a place where people want to invest, work, live, and visit.
Advancing Social Mobility
Our City thrives on opportunity. We will deepen our commitment to social mobility by creating pathways for all, breaking down barriers, and investing in the potential of every individual.
Together, We Can Achieve More.
This is your City—a place to live, work, learn, and explore. With your support, I will deliver a City of London that is efficient, sustainable, safe, and equitable—a City that leads on every front. Let’s create a future that works for everyone.
